The average life span of an Irish Wolfhound is relatively short due to its huge size. A healthy and well taken care dog of this breed can live at least 8 years or so. Be guided that this dog can encounter health issues such as heart disease, tumors, hip dysplasia, seizures, and eye problems. In bathing the dog, use the correct dog shampoo that is created to jive with the pH balance of its skin. Human and baby shampoo is not suited for human skin is different from the skin. Anti-dandruff shampoo is really harmful to them.

But, unforunately, due to its huge body, his life expectancy is not more than 6-8 years.  This a very short time, still, many people choose him as a new friend and many families choose him as a new member.
