Next is the Anatolian Shepherd. A rare dog bred for flock protection from wolves and bears. These dogs are not for inexperienced owners and grow up to 20 to 30 inches.

Irish Wolfhound

The “Apollo of Dogs”, the Great Dane is the gentle giant, and the model for the famous cartoon canine Scooby Doo. This dog stands at a staggering 28 to 32 inches. With these contenders, there is only one that reigns supreme and it is the Irish Wolfhound. An athletic dog with tireless endurance and devoted to its master, this champion stands 30 to 34 inches.
